Acting
An Egyptian actor born in 1943 in the Karmouz district of Alexandria, he was a pioneer of pantomime in Egypt. From a young age, he enjoyed imitating famous performers such as Charlie Chaplin and Abbott and Costello, and he staged performances during his school and university years. He went on to study pantomime in the former Soviet Union and pantomime directing in Azerbaijan. He twice received the "Distinguished Artist in the Arab World" award: first at the Bahrain Festival in 1984, and again at the Arab Theater Festival in Amman in 1990. He was also honored with the Egyptian Ministry of Defense Shield and the Cairo University Shield. Former Minister of Culture Farouk Hosny honored him at the Children's Cinema Festival at the Cairo Opera House in 2010 in recognition of his career in pantomime. He also received awards from the University of Geneva, the Writers' Union of India, and the University of Sydney (Australia) for his outstanding pantomime performances. In 2023, he was honored for his body of work at the Cairo Drama Festival in New Alamein City.
